A message from Robin Abdelmalik, MD, FACC
Program Director, Internal Medicine Residency Program
Welcome to the Internal Medicine Residency Program of the Southwest Healthcare Medical Education Consortium! Thank you for your interest. We are a community-based program located in Southwest Riverside County.
The mission of our program is to provide superior education and develop physicians who will provide timely, professional and quality healthcare services as they relate to Internal Medicine. The program trains physicians who will work to change lives and transform the delivery of healthcare.
Inpatient rotations will be centered at Temecula Valley Hospital and will also take place at Southwest Healthcare Inland Valley Hospital, Southwest Healthcare Rancho Springs Hospital, and Corona Regional Medical Center. These facilities are nationally recognized for quality of care and patient safety. Longitudinal patient care will be provided in one-week blocks at our continuity clinic, Riverside Medical Clinic’s Temescal Valley, and additional outpatient opportunities are available in clinics where our medical staff work. Our program features expert faculty and a patient population sufficiently large, diverse and complex to provide the breadth of experience necessary to develop superior internal medicine physicians.
Unique attributes of our program include:
- Delivery of team-based, comprehensive patient care.
- Diverse and energetic faculty who practice, model and mentor innovative ways of delivering high quality care.
- Emphasis on resident wellness including institutional support and tools for effective work/life balance.
- Focused training in high-value, cost-conscious care and the business of medicine.
- A hospital staff and community engaged in training primary care physicians for Southwest Riverside County.
By leveraging the varied clinical experiences offered at our facilities, an eager and accomplished faculty, and our culture of innovation in compassionate care delivery, our program will nurture and train superior internal medicine physicians for our region. We hope you will consider joining us on this new and unique path toward improved care delivery and clinical outcomes in a diverse and vibrant community with a historic shortage of primary care physicians.
